An amazing photographer friend of mine recently told me to shoot what you want people to see. I had to think about it for a minute but what she was saying was such great advice. I had been toying with the idea of doing a stylized mini shoot for a long time but her advice solidified it. I like stylized shoots because I’m a details gal. It’s who I am. I like to put thought into every aspect of what I’m doing whether it is party planning, photography, or even what I’m going to wear! It’s how I think and maybe I could receive therapy somewhere for my over obsessive mind but until then I’d like to channel it into pursuing my passions.
The lemonade stand was an obvious first choice for the mini session because summer is here and it is hot outside! I love to capture children doing things and this was a fun way to do that. The setup was an old 80s school desk that I painted apple red. Chalkboard paint was used on the front of the desk so the kiddos could write on it. My hubbie made a piece for the top that is detachable which I covered in lemon fabric. Add a wire basket, pitcher, striped straws, lemons and Waalaa! Instant lemonade stand!
So despite the fact that I scheduled this shoot during one of the hottest days of the year, it was a blast! Thanks to those of you who loaned me your children to help make my idea come into fruition! Here are just a couple of the families and shots from our lemonade stand day. Enjoy!
